Search underway for state prison escapee

State prison officials are asking for help finding an escapee.

They are looking for Pershon O’Neal Pettway, who was serving a two-year prison sentence for receiving stolen property at the Childersburg Community Based Facility and Community Work Center in Alpine.

The Alabama Department of Corrections says at approximately 3:32 this morning, an institutional bed roster was conducted of the facility. At approximately 4:20AM, the count did not clear. It was determined that Pettway was not present and was unaccounted for.

Pettway is 27 years old and is described as 6’01” and 135 lbs. Pettway is now wanted for escape.
