Alabama State University Celebrates its 114th Founders’ Day

Alabama State University is celebrating its 114th Founders’ Day this week, with activities honoring the hope and heritage of the Marion Nine.
This year’s theme is “The Legacy of Nine: Honoring Their Hope and Our Heritage.”
During the weeklong festivities from February third to the seventh, the University will host a series of events honoring the memory of the the Marion Nine, who helped fund the beginnings of Alabama State University.

Monday, there will be a student lecture series at 11 A.M. On Tuesday, there will be a community day of service. Then on Wednesday, there will be a lunch benefit hosted by the ASU leadership team.
On Thursday, several events will honor the university’s presidents and will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at 1 P.M. Then on the finale on Friday, the university welcomes new president, Doctor Gwendolyn Boyd for a convocation speech.
