Man sentenced for Montgomery murder

A man has been sentenced for the fatal shooting of another man in Montgomery in 2019.

Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey says Shariko Smith has been sentenced by Judge James Anderson to 24 years in prison for the murder of Marcus “Dale” Martin. 

According to evidence, on April 30, 2019, Martin invited Smith to his house in the 1200 block of Woodbridge Drive, where he had been a guest on previous occasions. An argument broke out as Martin was cooking, and Smith pulled out a gun and shot Martin multiple times.

Smith pleaded guilty to killing Martin in August 2023, Bailey said.
