ACTION 8 UPDATE: New details released in sex trafficking arrests in Montgomery area
Action 8 News has received new details in the arrests of 15 people who are charged in a sex trafficking case in the Montgomery area.
At a news conference today, investigators said the suspects targeted and solicited people online through chat rooms, social media and other sites.
They are accused of agreeing to pay to engage in sexual activity with individuals they believe to be children.
They are then accused of traveling to a designated location to meet up with the child before being intercepted by law enforcement.
Investigators have a message for anyone engaged in this activity:
“I want you to know next time you go online and prey on a child, you just might be talking to one of us. We are dedicated to protecting our children and you never know when where we are going to be” Montgomery County Assistant Chief Deputy Wesley Richerson said.
Ten of the suspects are currently in jail, while five have been released on bond.
