Overturned 18 wheeler shuts down left southbound lane of I-85 for more than 12 hours

A wreck that caused an 18 wheeler to overturn on I-85 Friday night kept traffic at a standstill and blocked one of the lanes on the interstate between Auburn and Montgomery for more than 12 hours. Action 8 News was able to obtain exclusive video of the wreck that made the huge mess. The two vehicle crash happened around 5:30pm Friday night.

The left southbound lane of Interstate 85 near the 47 mile marker in Macon County was blocked by the upside down 18 wheeler. It was carrying a load of wood chips that spilled into the median and the roadway. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division worked through the night, and they were finally able to clear the wreckage and open the left southbound lane of I-85 around 6:30am Saturday morning.
