Death investigation underway after woman found fatally shot in Montgomery

Montgomery police have opened up a death investigation after a woman was found fatally shot Sunday.

Spokesperson Sgt. Tina McGriff tells Action 8 News that 33-year-old Vernica Searcy, of Montgomery, was found shot around 6:20 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Court Street.

Officers and fire medics say Searcy was pronounced dead on the scene.
