ACTION 8 UPDATE: Road conditions poor in several areas north of Montgomery

Alabama State Troopers say road conditions are poor in several areas as of Tuesday morning due to ice.

In Chilton County, U.S. Highway 31 at Alabama 155 is iced over. State troopers say all overpasses in Chilton County are iced over.

Interstate 65 has multiple crashes between the 198 mile marker (two miles south of Verbena exit near Autauga/Chilton County line) and the 226 mile marker (two miles south of Montevallo exit in Shelby County), roadway is completely iced over and is currently impassable in certain areas.

The Alabama Department of Transportation will be diverting traffic from the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 at Exit 186 onto U.S. 31 in Autauga County.

U.S. Highway 82 double bridges between the 106 and 107 mile marker are iced over.

Also in Chilton County, a tractor-trailer is across both lanes of Interstate 65 near the 199 mile marker in Chilton County, causing a lane closure. State troopers are on the scene and recovery crews are en route to remove the commercial vehicle and reopen the roadway.

In Coosa County, U.S. Highway 280 near County  Road 49, 1 mile east and west of this location are iced over.

State troopers will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly. Please use extreme caution when traveling and be aware of ice on the roadways.
