From the West Alabama Newsroom–

A two vehicle accident in Dallas County — ends with four students at Dallas County High School — arrested on gun — and drug charges.

Sheriff Mike Granthum says 18 year old Desean Peat and three juveniles were arrested in the case.
Granthum says deputies responded to an accident Peat was involved in — Friday morning on County Road 63 near Plantersville.

Wal Hsersarrested0130 VoHe says Pete passed off a bag to a student on a school bus that passed by the accident scene.

Deputies found a loaded gun and marijuana in the bag — when they went to the high school — to retrieved it.

“And we were only looking for marijuana at the time. We had no idea. That’s what we were told that it was drugs that he passed off. We didn’t know it was a loaded handgun. And that gun was on a school bus with juvenile kids, and it was fully loaded with the safety off. So, you know, by the Grace of God we don’t have somebody dead or seriously injured for somebody making a knucklehead decision.”

Peat is being held in the Perry County Correctional Center on $12,000 dollars bond.

The juveniles were taken to the Dallas County Detention Center.
