Auburn’s Irish and Peirce named Preseason All-SEC

Auburn sophomore designated hitter/ utility Ike Irish and graduate student outfielder Bobby Peirce given preseason All-SEC honors. Irish was named a Preseason All-SEC First Team designated hitter/utility player while Peirce was named a Preseason All-SEC second team outfielder.

Irish was also named to the NCBWA Preseason Second Team All-America.

Last season on the Plains Irish led the Tigers in several statistical categories including average (.361), hits (86) and doubles (24) while ranking second in RBI (50) and total bases (130) and third in runs (48). The 24 doubles that Irish recorded last season was the sixth most in program history and was the most since 2005, and was tied for the second most in the SEC and the most for freshman nationally. Additionally during the 2023 season, Irish finished seventh in the SEC and fourth nationally in hits.

During the 2023 season, Peirce recorded a career best batting average of .343. Peirce returns to Auburn this season and was elected a Legacy Leader by his teammates and will be the Tigers most experienced position player this season with 102 games played and 85 starts.
