Extreme Loneliness Increases Premature Death Risk
Extreme loneliness can increase an older person’s chances of premature death by 14 percent according to research at the University of Chicago.
A psychology professor conducted the study that found the impact of loneliness is nearly as strong as the impact of poverty, which increases the chances of dying by 19 percent.
Health issues linked to severe loneliness include lack of sleep, high blood pressure and depression.
