Antidepressant Relieves Alzheimer’s Symptoms

A new study at  Johns Hopkins found the antidepressant drug Citalopram helps relieve the emotional distress, excessive movement and aggression that often comes with Alzheimer’s disease.

Researchers say 40 percent of the patients they studied experienced considerable relief after taking Citalopram.

However, doctors say those same patients were also more likely to have slightly decreased cognitive function.

Citalopram is also sold under the brand names Celexa and Cipramil.
