MPD: Autopsy reveals Montgomery woman died from a fatal gunshot wound

Montgomery police are investigating a homicide that occurred earlier this week.

Maj. Saba Coleman tells Action 8 News that around 8:48 a.m. Monday, MPD and fire medics responded to the 5100 block of Carmichael Road in reference to a deceased person.

Once they arrived, they found 20-year-old Alexia Shepherd, of Montgomery, with fatal injuries. Shepherd was pronounced dead on the scene.

After an autopsy was performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Science, it was revealed that Shepherd died from a fatal gunshot wound.
