Alabama State Games
This summer the 2024 Alabama State Games return to Birmingham for the second year in a row. This year the Alabama State Games are looking to register a record number of athletes to their 26 different sports. Alabama State Games Director of Community Outreach Robby Bradford says this year the games are looking to reach 6,000 participants. Last year the Alabama State games had 3,600 participants. Another important aspect of the games are the academic scholarships that are given out to participants.
“The big incentive to draw people to the games is the scholarship initiative. So to date we have given out $363,000 in academic scholarships to athletes who have competed in the games, and this year we’ve committed 40,000 dollars in academic scholarships for any registered athlete that wants to participate,” says Bradford.
