State Takes Over Selma City Schools

The Selma city school system is now under control by the state.
Â
State school officials officially took control of the school system Friday. The intervention could last two years. Â
Â
Some employees are being put on paid leave.
Â
The arrest of a Selma High School teacher on sex charges prompted an investigation by the Alabama Department of Education, which found the system failed to adequately investigate allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior.
Â
It also found administrators tried to get teachers to change students’ grades.
