State Takes Over Selma City Schools

 

State school officials officially took control of the school system Friday. The intervention could last two years.  

 

Some employees are being put on paid leave.

 

The arrest of a Selma High School teacher on sex charges prompted an investigation by the Alabama Department of Education, which found the system failed to adequately investigate allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior.

 

It also found administrators tried to get teachers to change students’ grades.
