Woman shot on Atlanta Highway in Montgomery
A woman was injured after being shot on Atlanta Highway Friday afternoon.
Capt. Raymond Carson with the Montgomery Police Department confirmed to Action 8 News that the woman was shot at around 1PM in the 5500 block of Atlanta Highway. That is near the intersection of Eastern Boulevard.
Action 8 News spoke to an eyewitness who did not want to be identified, but he says his truck now has a bullet hole in the back of it. He’s just thankful that bullet hit his truck instead of his head or body. The eyewitness tells us he was stopped at the light in front of Eastdale Mall near Red Lobster on the Atlanta Highway when he heard something hit his car. He then saw two vehicles speeding away in opposite directions.
A man in a car in front of him jumped out of his car and yelled that he thought a person – who was also stopped at the light – had been hit. MPD confirmed to us that an adult female victim sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment. So we know at least two cars were hit with bullets while stopped at that light. No other information has been released.
