Dick Brewbaker concedes loss in Republican Runoff for U.S. House District 2
Dick Brewbaker, the former state lawmaker and well-known former Montgomery car dealership owner, came up short in the Republican Runoff for U.S. House District 2.
Brewbaker lost to Montgomery attorney Caroleene Dobson.
With 99% of precincts reporting late Tuesday night, here are the results:
Caroleene Dobson: 14,688 votes – 58%
Dick Brewbaker: 10,454 votes – 42%
“I don’t feel bad about it,” Brewbaker told Action 8’s Ellis Eskew about his loss. “I made a decision that I wasn’t going to run a negative campaign and I didn’t. But this proves negative people run negative ads because they work whether they are true or not. In Montgomery in the counties where people know me I got better than 60 percent of the vote but where people don’t know you, negative campaigning is effective. May not be right but it is effective.”
As for what’s next, Brewbaker says he looks forward to spending time with his grandchildren.
