Woman faces contraband, drug charges at Staton Prison
The Alabama Department of Corrections says it has arrested a woman on various charges at Staton Prison in Elmore County.
ADOC says at about 1:56 this morning, the prison K9 team received an alert about a suspicious vehicle. Investigators say they found the vehicle, detained the driver and discovered a suspicious package.
ADOC says the driver, Chasity Cox, was taken to the Elmore County Jail and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, prohibited activities, possession of marijuana and promoting prison contraband.
ADOC says further charges may be pending.
