ACTION 8 UPDATE: Reward offered in shooting on Atlanta Highway that paralyzed a woman now up to $15,000
Central Alabama CrimeStoppers tells Action 8 News that a $15,000 reward is now being offered for information that identifies and leads to an arrest of the suspect(s) responsible for shooting a woman on April 12. That is up from the $10,000 that was initially put up Wednesday.
Alabama House District 75 Representative Reed Ingram added an additional $5,000 to the reward bringing the total to $15,000.00 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the shooter.
The shooting happened at around 1PM on Friday, April 12, in the 5500 block of Atlanta Highway, near the intersection of Eastern Boulevard. Montgomery police told Action 8 News that the victim in the shooting, now identified as Amy Dicks, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The family released a statement a few days later stating that Dicks was paralyzed from the chest down.
Action 8 News spoke to an eyewitness who did not want to be identified, but says his truck was struck by a bullet in the back. The eyewitness tells us he was stopped at the traffic light in front of Eastdale Mall near Red Lobster on the Atlanta Highway when he heard something hit his car. He then says he saw two vehicles speeding away in opposite directions.
He says a man in a car in front of him jumped out of his car and yelled that he thought a person – who was also stopped at the light – had been hit.
In addition, Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is offering its maximum $5,000 reward and Montgomery County Commissioner Ronda Walker is offering an additional $5,000.
