An Alabama Department of Corrections guard has been arrested and charged after receiving a payment from an inmate.

Officials say Tyree Lynette Hoyle was a correctional security guard at Kilby Correction Facility.

According to court records, Hoyle received a $500 CASHAPP payment on November 9, 2023 from an incarcerated ADOC inmate. The payment was accepted and transferred into Hoyle’s personal bank account.

Additionally, according to court documents, on November 30, 2023, Hoyle conspired with a former ADOC correctional security guard and a current inmate to smuggle drugs into the prison.

Hoyle met up with the former correctional security guard in Montgomery and received three contraband packages containing marijuana and suboxone with the intent to smuggle the drugs into Kilby Correctional Facility.

Hoyle is currently in the Montgomery County Detention Facility and charged with Use of Official Position for Personal Gain and Attempt to Distribute Drugs.

ADOC officials say Hoyle has resigned from her position.

The case remains under investigation.
