Chilton County man killed in crash on U.S. Highway 31

A Chilton County man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 31.

Alabama State Troopers say 41-year-old Phillip Williams of Verbena was driving an SUV that hit the rear of another SUV, which was driven by 35-year-old Kayla Montgomery of Jemison.

State troopers say after the impact, Williams’ SUV overturned. Investigators say Williams was not using a seat belt, was thrown out of his SUV and died at the scene.

The wreck happened at about 6:11PM Sunday about three miles south of Verbena.
