Man killed in crash on Interstate 65 near Clanton

A man has died in a crash of a van on Interstate 65 near Clanton.

Alabama State Troopers say 36-year-old Justin Washington of Pell City was riding in the van when it left the road, hit a cable barrier and overturned. Investigators say he was not using a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 23-year-old Karlmarick Thompson of Birmingham, was hurt and taken to a hospital.

The crash happened at about 4:20 this morning about one mile north of Clanton.
