Four LAMP Student-Athletes bring home Tennis Individual Titles
At the AHSAA Tennis Tournament the LAMP Golden Tiger’s Boys Tennis Team finished up third in the team standings while the girls team finished up fourth. However, Hannah Baik, Dabeen Choi, Ian Kim, and Wonjun Lee all brought home individual state titles for the Golden Tigers.
Hannah Baik (senior) and Dabeen Choi (senior) won the line three doubles title.
“It felt amazing really. Like the past two years we lost at finals, so it was really sad losing at finals, but we ended our senior year, our high school year with a great win,” says Baik
In addition to winning line three doubles, Choi also brought home the line four singles title.
I feel like really sad because all of the years that I’ve played with my friends and my coaches ended, but yet I’m really grateful that I was able to end it the way I wanted to end and come home with the plaques,” says Choi.
From the boys team Ian Kim (senior) brought home the line two singles title while Wonjun Lee took first in line six singles.
“It’s kind of sad you know it’s my senior year and it’s a mix of emotions I guess. I’m happy that I won state singles,” says Lee.
“I’m proud to say that I didn’t drop a set. I pretty much played some of my best tennis after that moment, so that was a good turn
around for me,” says Kim.
