Mainly Dry But Mostly Cloudy Friday; Some Rain This Weekend

The remnants of post-tropical Beta are centered near the tri-state area of Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama this morning. However, all the rain is east of our area, stretching from Georgia northeast into the Carolinas. Friday looks mainly dry but also mostly cloudy. A few stray showers could try to develop this afternoon. Otherwise, expect highs in the low to mid 80s. Friday night looks partly cloudy and milder with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Saturday looks mainly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. A few stray showers can’t be ruled out, but don’t count on it. High temperatures reach the mid 80s. Sunday looks wetter, with scattered showers and storms developing during the afternoon. Expect showers and storms early next week as well, as a cold front pushes into Alabama.

Models are split on how quickly the front clears our area. The GFS sweeps the front deep into the southeast and through our area prior to Wednesday. However, the European model shows the front stalling, momentarily at least, across Alabama on Wednesday. It’s a new development from the Euro, which yesterday showed dry weather for next Wednesday. We’ll hold off on higher rain chances next Wednesday for now.

Expect drier, sunnier, and cooler weather for the start of October late next week. Highs only warm to near 80° with lows in the 50s next Thursday and Friday.
