Pay It Forward: Melissa Duncan of Montgomery
Melissa Duncan is a nurse at Merry Wood Lodge and Rehabilitation Center.
She has earned her Master’s, Doctorate, and psych certification.
And she’s always ready to step in to help others.
“I don’t know where she gets the energy, but she does so much for the staff and residents here as well as out in the community. She does a lot of volunteer work and raising her grandson, then she helps me out after hours,” said her nominator Edna Glenn.
Duncan’s energy and positivity goes a long way to help heal those at Merry Wood Lodge.
“Oh, my goodness, they love her because she’s the only one that comes in the door and you hear ‘Greetings!’ That’s Dr. Mel. So the residents call her Dr. Mel even though she’s not their medical doctor. They enjoy the camaraderie we have around here and the teamwork,” said Glenn.
As for Duncan’s advice for others?
“Keep following your dreams. Keep striving. I like to stay positive, so spread positivity. It always comes back, always comes back threefold. I was taught that,” said Duncan.
