Selma non-profit raising funds for new domestic violence shelter
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
A Selma non-profit organization that helps battered woman escape abusive relationships — needs help from the community to continue its work.
SABRA Sanctuary is an emergency temporary shelter — that helps victims of domestic violence — get back on their feet — and rebuild their lives.
The organization is raising money for a new shelter. The old shelter was damaged in the January 12th tornado — and can no longer be used.
“June 30th has been a date that was issued to us to have that property secured which is right around the corner,” said SABRA Sanctuary Executive Director Clementine Ellis.
“So, it’s very, very vital that we maintain or try to support the cause of the fundraiser so that we can keep, continue to serve.”
SABRA Sanctuary is having a Boston Butt fundraiser on June 29th. The butts are $35 dollars. Tickets are available at the SABRA Sanctuary office at 726 Dallas Avenue in Selma. The number is 334-877-4645.
SABRA Sanctuary serves domestic violence victims in Dallas — Perry — Wilcox — Marengo — Greene — and Sumter counties.
