The Montgomery Police Department chaplain who passed away earlier this week died from injuries sustained in a crash nearly two weeks ago.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency tells Action 8 News that the two-vehicle crash happened around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, May 10 on Norman Bridge Road near East Delano Avenue.

51-year-old Antonio Seales was critically injured when the car he was driving was struck from the rear by another vehicle driven by 26-year-old Ashton Ford, of Montgomery.

Before the crash occurred, Ford was eluding law enforcement and was involved in a pursuit that originated out of Greenville.

Seales was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.

As Action 8 News has reported, on Tuesday, May 21, Seales passed away from his injuries.

The suspect, Ford, was also injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South for treatment.

Seales began working with the department in 2013 as part of the city’s Operation Good Shepherd program, a partnership between the Montgomery Police Department and area worship centers to support the families and loved ones affected by acts of violence.

He became the Department’s chaplain in 2021.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
