Three people hurt in boat fire on Lake Mitchell in Chilton County

Three people have been hurt in a boat fire on Lake Mitchell in Chilton County.

Alabama Marine Police say the fire happened at about 3:45PM Sunday in the Cargile Creek area near Grace’s Marina.

Officers say 39-year-old Phillip McCarn of Hoover was trying to crank the engine on a 19-foot boat when it burst into flames. He and two people on the boat were injured.

They have all been treated for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries, investigators say.

Marine Police officers are investigating what caused the fire.
