Sheriff Michael Howell says that Benson was shot on May 1 on Coosa County Road 93 in Kellyton. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Howell says that yesterday, with the help of the State Bureau of Investigation, Alabama State Troopers and the Montgomery SWAT Team, a search warrant was executed in Montgomery. He says evidence was found that relates to the case and led to the arrest of Grandison.

Grandison is being held in the Coosa County Jail without bond.
