Opening of Slim Chickens adds chicken choices to Montgomery
Montgomery has a new place to eat chicken with the opening of Slim Chickens on EastChase Parkway.
The restaurant chain opened for the first time Monday, offering chicken fingers, wings, salads and other items to an area that’s also home to chicken competitors Guthrie’s, Bojangles and Popeyes.
Cars were lined up throughout much of the day with people eager to get a taste.
“A lot of great customers are coming out. I mean it was huge. It was a lot of people who came out to enjoy themselves,” General Manager La’Dontae Lee said.
“It’s exciting, you know. We’ve been building this restaurant since January, and so it’s really great to see it finally come through. It’s fantastic to be in Montgomery, the state capital, and to be able to give all of these people the opportunity to come here and work with us to develop themselves and grow into leadership positions,” Slim Chickens Director of Operations Calvin Stokesbary said.
Slim Chickens has more than 250 locations in 34 states as well as other locations in the U.K. It has a plan to open 600 restaurants in the next decade. There are 11 locations in Alabama besides the one in Montgomery.
