Second suspect arrested and charged in Valley Grande murder

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office makes another arrest — in a deadly shooting in Valley Grande last month.

Sheriff Mike Granthum says 23 year old Cameron Smith of Selma — is charged with murder in the death of 21 year old Genesis Barnett.

Barnett was shot and killed a month ago at a house on the 3700 block of Hilandale Drive.

Smith is the second person arrested and charged in the case.

Nineteen year old Remarion Coleman of Selma is also charged.

“It was an argument over some property. They knew each other, they were at the house, they had a little small shed that they congregated in behind the residence. They knew each other real well. And some type of argument over some property so far, that’s what the investigation is telling us.

Granthum says the case remains under investigation. He says more arrests and charges are possible.
