July begins very hot, but with lower chances for rain this week

June ended on a very hot and humid note across central and south Alabama. High temperatures were in the mid to upper 90s Sunday, with peak heat indices of 105-108°. Fortunately, scattered showers and storms took a bite out of the heat during the afternoon and evening. Sunday night becomes partly cloudy to mostly clear, warm, and humid with lows in the mid 70s.

High temperatures remain very hot throughout the first week of July. Although, humidity looks a bit lower Monday. That should keep heat indices near or below 100°. Chances for rain look lower this week. However, isolated showers or storms remain possible each afternoon, including independence day. The Fourth of July could be one of the hottest days this week.
