Festivities include a carnival — a free concert — food vendors — and a fireworks show.

“There will be no weapons allowed during the events. Make sure if you have a book bag that it’s clear. All coolers and everything will be checked upon entrance into the festivities,” said Police Chief Kenta Fulford.

City officials say there will be hydration stations on site — providing bottled water at the event.

And the George Evans Building will also serve as a cooling station.
