3 arrested for trespassing near Elmore County prison

Adoc ArrestsThe Alabama Department of Corrections has arrested three people for criminal trespassing.

ADOC officials say on July 13, the suspects were detained on state property near Elmore Correctional Facility. While tracking the trespassers, two packages of contraband were recovered.

Officials arrested Christopher Smith and Indya Harris. Both were charged with possession of marijuana and promoting prison contraband I and II. The third suspect, a juvenile, was released to a family member.

Smith and Harris are in the Elmore County Jail.

ADOC says the Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating and further charges may be pending.
