ACTION 8 UPDATE: Arrest made in Alexander City murder

ACTION 8 UPDATE: Alexander City police have made an arrest in a man’s shooting death.

Police Sgt. Drew Machen said 25-year-old Lavontae Darnell Parker is charged with murder in the killing of 40-year-old Stephen Huntley. Machen said officers were called to the 4000 block of Washington Street last night at about 9:40PM. The location is just off U.S. Highway 280.

Huntley was found with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was taken to Russell Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Machen said Parker was arrested late this afternoon at a home in the 300 block of Andrew Jackson Road. He is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
