Montgomery homeowner says house hit by at least 12 bullets

A homeowner in a Montgomery neighborhood is speaking out after his home was shot repeatedly. It is a story we’re hearing all too often here in the Capitol City. A family is thankful to be alive after at least 12 bullets hit the front of their home while they were sleeping. “We’ve been down here 29 years and we’ve never had any problems, said the homeowner.

That all changed around midnight on Monday, August 5 when the homeowner – who does not want to be identified – says he and his family members heard bullets repeatedly hitting their home. “We heard some shots and so we didn’t know what it was, and when we came to the door, glass was all on the porch, there was stuff on the porch. We didn’t know what was going on. That’s when we found out that somebody shot into our house,” said the homeowner.

The homeowner pointed out multiple places where at least eight bullets tore into the bricks on the front of the house. Four bullets pierced the windows. Fortunately, all of his family members were at the back of the house and no one was injured. “I’ve got elder folks in my home. I’ve got a handicapped kid in there, and then I have school kids,” said the homeowner.

His next door neighbor’s home also had damage from the gunfire. He has now installed cameras and says he and the other neighbors are planning to form a neighborhood watch. “I’d really like to see more police on the street. That’s what I’d really like to see because elderly folks need help, cause they’re going around shooting people’s houses and that ain’t right, ” said the homeowner. We reached out to the Montgomery Police Department to find out more information about this shooting, and we will update this story when we know more. The homeowner says this is the first time in the 29 years that he has lived in the home that anything like this has ever happened.
