Marion woman raises safety concerns following school fight

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

A Marion woman says three students jumped her 14-year-old daughter at school earlier this month.

But the punishment they got — was like a slap on the wrist.

Wal2 1Cellphone video of the incident shows Jamiyah Murphy — getting pulled out of her seat — dragged to the floor — and punched repeatedly.

Two students involved in the attack — were suspended.

But now that both have returned to school — Murphy’s mother Robyn Evans — is concerned for her safety.

“The thing is, after they returned from that punishment, they were at my child again. I actually feel like my child is not safe at Francis Marion,” said Evans.

School officials say all parental concerns are thoroughly — and student safety is a top priority.
