Troy Police Chief Retiring After more than Thirty Years of Service

A staple in Troy law enforcement for more than 30 years is preparing to say goodbye to the police force. In fact with  thirty-three years passing since Chief Barr took the oath to protect and serve he is now handing in his badge. Chief Barr began and is ending his career in the city of Troy. His long career hasn’t come without its challenges both  as a patrol officer and as the Chief of Police.

Even with those challenges Barr says this is not just a job but a passion. With sleepless nights, dedication and commitment the 24 hours a day seven days a week is something that he will miss.

His hope is that each case that he has had the opportunity to help close brings closure to those involved and at the root of all of it, he is simply a servant. Now,

he wants to time for himself and his family in a new journey.
Chief Barr will be honored with a Retirement Ceremony September 27th at 2:00 p.m. at The Studio in Troy.
