Labor Day brings boaters, business to Lake Martin
The last unofficial day of summer brought out plenty of people to Lake Martin.
Staffers at Wind Creek State Park say it’s an opportunity for families to spend good quality time go out on the water, and a chance for children to put down the electronics and to make long-lasting memories while boosting the economy in the state.
State officials stress safety, especially for boaters, to keep small children in a life vest at all times while on the water, and when driving through the park to watch your speed because of the high number of children and pedestrians.
Wind Creek State Park offers boating, mini golf, zip lining, hiking trails and other outdoor activities.
“We are expecting a good crowd to come out fishing, swimming, boating, camping, picnicking — just a good family fun atmosphere. Everybody just loves to rent our boats and go out on the water,” Wind Creek State Park Marine Manager Stacy Radcliffe told Action 8 News.
