Woman arrested in Alexander City shooting

Alexander City police have arrested a woman in a Labor Day shooting.

Sgt. Drew Machen tells Action 8 News that around 6:20 p.m., officers were called to the 1500 block of J Street after receiving a call regarding a shooting.

While en route, officers were notified that a person had been shot and they were not located in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot on Jefferson Street.

The victim, an unidentified 27-year-old woman, of Alexander City, was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect, 21-year-old Jerusalem Banks, of Alexander City, was taken into custody without incident.

The cause remains under investigation.
