Columbus, GA man arrested for sexual abuse and kidnapping

Auburn police say a Columbus, GA, man is now in custody for sexual abuse and kidnapping.

49-year-old Israel Aracen Blancurte was arrested after police say he offered a ride to a woman he encountered in downtown Auburn on September 6.

The woman told police that Blancurte drove her to a secluded location near E. Samford Avenue and touched her in a sexual manner.

The woman was able to escape on foot before filing a police report with the Auburn Police Department.

Blancurte was located by Auburn PD on September 12. After further investigation, Blancurte was arrested and is currently being held without bond at the Lee County Jail.
