Dallas Co. EMA hosts 16th Annual Be Ready Day at Bloch Park
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Dallas County EMA held its 16th annual Be Ready Day — Wednesday morning at Bloch Park in Selma.
Be Ready Day provides people with the tools and information they need — to be able to properly respond in emergency situations.
“It is imperative that people be prepared. Because that could help save lives,” said Dallas Co. EMA Director Toya Crusoe.
The event featured several information stations.
Emergency management agencies — weather experts — and first-responders — shared preparedness information with the public.
“We had a lot of hand outs geared towards kids and also adults. And it covers various weather hazards. Anything from lightning to hurricanes to tornadoes and anything in between,” said Gerald Satterwhite with the National Weather Service.
Dallas Co. EMA also gave away free NOAA weather radios — to thirty senior citizens who attended the Be Ready Day event.
