Pedestrian killed in early morning accident on I-85

Montgomery police are investigating an early morning accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

Maj. Saba Coleman tells Action 8 News that the single-vehicle accident happened around 5:16 a.m. on I-85 North near the Eastern Boulevard off ramp.

Once officers and fire medics arrived, they located a pedestrian, 43-year-old Johnstone Namale Kuboka, of Montgomery, with fatal injuries. Kuboka was pronounced dead on the scene.

Maj. Coleman says the driver of the vehicle, a 2013 Dodge Ram, was not injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
