Hurricane Helene Sends Heavy Rain & Gusty Winds Our Way
Tonight: More rain will continue to work into the eastern half of the state. We’ve already seen a couple of inches and heavier rain comes in during the overnight hours. Areas in East Alabama could see an additional 4-6 inches while Central Alabama may pick up another 2-3 inches. Areas west of the I-65 corridor will see much less and most well under 1 inch. The greater wind threat will be across eastern Alabama. A Tropical Storm Warming is in effect for our eastern most counties.  Wind gust between 40-50 mph will be possible. Sporadic power outages are possible. Central and West Alabama wind gust will range between 25-30 mph.
Our weather will be improving going into the upcoming weekend. The rain moves out by early Friday morning but the winds still remain gusty(25-30mph)throughout the day. Partly sunny skies return and we head into Friday evening uneventful weatherwise. We don’t see any weather issues for Friday night football games or college games Saturday. The rest of the weekend is looking fairly nice. We’re expecting mostly sunny skies with a few showers possible. Temps will manage the mid 80s for highs both days.
