What to know about this year’s Alabama National Fair
Since 1954, the Alabama National Fair has been one of the biggest annual events in Montgomery.
It’s held at Garrett Coliseum and is a fundraiser for the Montgomery Kiwanis Club, which donates the proceeds to various local charities and projects. Those donations have totaled more than $300,000 in recent years.
This year’s fair runs from Friday, October 4, through Monday, October 14. In addition, there is a “Taste of the Fair” event happening on Thursday, October 3, that can give you a sneak peek at what’s in store. It is a fundraiser for the Miracle Field of Montgomery.
The fair offers everything from food and livestock competitions to rides, food, concerts and plenty of activities.
There is an important change. Parking will now be included in the ticket price.
Children will need a parent or guardian to get into the fair. Once inside, they are allowed to roam around.
There is also a clear bag policy in effect to keep the fairgrounds safe.
The daily schedule has various times that the gates and rides open.
