U.S. Senator Katie Britt speaks at Marion Military Institute
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
U.S. Senator Katie Britt was in Perry County — Wednesday. She was the guest speaker at Marion Military Institute — at an annual series featuring distinguished leaders.
Leadership and character were the focus of the message — Britt gave to cadets.
Britt talked about making tough decisions — being unafraid to fail — and encouraged everyone to be of service in some way.
She also shared lessons she learned on her journey to the U.S. Senate. And an important life-lesson — her grandfather taught her.
“He said it is not your zip code, it’s not where you went to high school, it’s not what your parents do, it is not what’s in your bank account that will ultimately determine what you can achieve,” said Britt.
“He said what will determine your path in life is your character, your integrity, your work ethic and the way you treat people.”
Britt said MMI is a place that builds character — and molds leaders that will help shape the next generation.
