Gov. Kay Ivey to appoint new Montgomery County District Attorney

With last week’s retirement of Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey, we are awaiting Gov. Kay Ivey to appoint a new district attorney.

As Action 8 News has reported, Bailey retired last Tuesday after 10 years as district attorney and nearly 30 years of working in the office. He took a position at Faulkner University’s Jones School of Law.

Last Thursday, Presiding Judge Johnny Hardwick led a swearing-in ceremony for Azzie Oliver to become the District Attorney Pro Tem for the 15th Judicial Circuit. She has the same privileges and authority as the regular district attorney and will serve while the office awaits a permanent appointment by the governor.
