A 14-year-old from Montgomery has been arrested by Opelika police on a felony charge of making a terroristic threat.

Police say they made the arrest yesterday following a lockdown that happened at Opelika High School the day before. Police say someone had called in a threat that they were on their way to shoot up the school.

Opelika police detectives and the FBI say they traced the phone call to a home in Montgomery. They, along with ALEA, say they used a search warrant to find a cell phone at the teen’s home that was used to make the call.

The juvenile was taken to Opelika and is being held at the Lee County Youth Development Center.

Police say the initial investigation indicates that there was no plan to carry out the threat. Detectives are continuing to investigate the juvenile’s connection to Opelika.
