It will be the 83rd edition of the historic game, which dates back to 1924.The overall series is led by Alabama A&M 43-36-3, but Alabama State has won the past two games.
“We really spent the bye week getting ready for the classic, and everything as far as getting up here and logistics and those types of things, but for me it’s the favorite week of the year,” Alabama State head football coach Eddie Robinson, Jr., said. “It’s my favorite game of the year. It’s the biggest game of the year and not just because it’s the next game, but because it’s the classic.”
“It’s the Magic City Classic, again it’s the 83rd. It’s been around forever. It’s the greatest classic in HBCU and FCS football,” Alabama A&M head football coach Connell Maynor said.
Kickoff is set for 2:30PM CDT Saturday at Legion Field. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
