Prattville Fire Department collects more supplies for victims of Hurricane Helene
The Prattville Fire Department is once again doing its part to help victims of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina.
The fire department has been collecting supplies for several days. Members of the department will take the donated items to the Garren Creek community in western North Carolina that was devastated by the storm.
Prattville residents, businesses and churches donated items like blankets, winter clothing, space heaters and pet food.
This is the fire department’s second trip to deliver supplies. They just want the people in that ravaged area to know they are not forgotten.
“It’s a small community, and I’ve heard one of them (a donor) saying that you know, growing up here in Prattville, they are familiar. It seems very similar to home, and so there’s an instant connection,” Sgt. Jason Cupps of the Prattville Fire Department said.
“They know that these supplies and these donations are going to the hands that need them the most, and we just hope that just every little thing that they can do everything is a blessing that we are receiving from the community and it can be just one step towards getting them back to some kind of normal. I know it’s going to be a very long rebuilding process but just anything that we can do to assist them in that process it’s just a great feeling.”
