More construction coming to Interstate 85 near the Montgomery/Macon county line

More construction is coming to the same stretch of Interstate 85 in Macon County, near the Montgomery County line.

Starting Sunday,  the Alabama Department of Transportation will close one southbound lane on I-85 between Montgomery and Shorter for approximately one mile near Line Creek. This is around mile marker 19, just inside Macon County.

The lane will be closed 24/7.

As you may know, one northbound lane of I-85 in that same area has already been closed for more than a week, leading to some big traffic backups, including at Exit 16 to Waugh and Pike Road. That closure will continue, including on game day tomorrow.

ALDOT hopes to have all of the work finished by Thanksgiving.
